Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding across Romania. Deaths are
reported, and a number of people are missing or displaced. The
northeastern county of Bacau and the southern county of Arges have
sustained the worst damage, with thousands of hectares of farmland
underwater and widespread damage to homes, roads, and bridges.
However,
travel in and around Bucharest has not been affected, and all airports
are open. Canadians in or travelling to the affected areas should
monitor local news and weather reports, follow the advice of local
authorities, and determine whether the situation will disrupt travel
arrangements.
